Pilgrimage to Israel - The Holy Land Day-by-Day Itinerary Wednesday, August 2nd - Depart Chicago on our way to Tel Aviv, Israel. Thursday, August 3rd - Arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport where an Ami Travel representative greets us and give us an introduction about the forthcoming trip. Proceed to Nazareth - our home in the Galilee for an overnight stay. Friday, August 4th - Morning Mass at the Basilica of the Annunciation, home of the Virgin. Continue to Cana where we shall renew marriage vows. Cross Upper Galilee to the Golan Heights to explore Caesarea Philippi where St. Peter made his confession of Jesus as the Messiah and the "Son of the living God". Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight. Saturday, August 5th - Tour the Sea of Galilee, Visit the newly excavated Magdala. Celebrate Mass on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Visit Capernaum and Simon Peter's house; to Tabgha - the site of the Feeding of the Multitudes and the Church of St. Peter’s Primacy. Enjoy a lunch of St. Peter’s Fish; we shall take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee and ascend the Mount of the Beatitudes - site of the Sermon on the Mount. Dinner and overnight in Nazareth. Sunday, August 6th - Cross the Valley of Armageddon to ascend Mt Tabor- site of the Transfiguration for our Mass celebration. Continue to Mt Carmel to the Carmelite Monastery - where Elijah defeated the pagan prophets (1 Kings:18). Visit Caesarea Maritima - where Cornelius was baptized, and St. Paul was imprisoned before his last Journey; see the aqueduct and the ruins of what was one of the most significant sites on the Mediterranean basin. Return to Nazareth - walk through "old town" Nazareth; The synagogue where Jesus stood to proclaim and preach the stirring words of Isaiah (Luke 4:16-27). Visit "the brow of the hill" known as "Mt. Precipice". Return to Nazareth for dinner and overnight stay. Monday, August 7th - Depart Galilee. Drive via the Jordan Valley to the Jordan River in the Wilderness - to renew baptismal promises. Continue to Masada site of the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Romans. See the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls where discovered and enjoy a floating experience in the Dead Sea. Ascent to Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Tuesday, August 8th - Journey in Bethlehem to visit the ancient Church of Nativity where we shall celebrate Mass. Enjoy your shopping in a Bethlehem bazaar and later visit Manger Square, Milk Grotto, and the beautiful Shepherds' Fields. In Jerusalem explore Mt. Zion: David's Tomb, the Room of the Last Supper and the Dormition Abbey - site of the Assumption of the Virgin. End the day at St Peter in Gallicantu (cock-crowing) built over the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Wednesday, August 9th - Morning Mass inside the Basilica of Gethsemane; ascend Mt of Olives: Chapel of Ascension and Palm Sunday Road. Walk Inside the Old City of Jerusalem to Church of St Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. Walk the Stations of the Cross; visit the various quarters and the underground excavations. See the Temple ruins and the Western Wall amidst the buildings of old Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Thursday, August 10th - Celebrate Mass inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Visit the birthplace of St John the Baptist and the church of the Visitation - followed by a free day; we shall direct you to places you may visit at your own pace or do your last shopping. Enjoy farewell dinner. Overnight in Jerusalem. Friday, August 11th - Morning transfer to the Airport for our fight back home. Same day arrival to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
